Over the last 20 years, the Netherlands has managed to improve the safety of cyclists, their largest vulnerable road user casualty group, mainly through provision of additional facilities for them, both on and off road. Cyclists contribute much smaller numbers of fatalities to the road toll in both Britain and Sweden, but there risk remains high. Further information will be sought on how this situation might be improved in these two countries.
