The SUNflower+6 project is closely related to one of the priorities of the common transport policy as laid down in the EC White paper on European Transport policy for 2010 (2001), as indicated in the European Road Safety Action Programme (2003) in the road safety resolution of the European Parliament. The project intends to encourage all participating countries to perform better in the field of road safety and to customize 'good practices' from other countries. Moreover, it encourages the European Commission and other countries to do the same.
