Heavy goods vehicles Synchronise TOCPreviousNext

Although involvement of heavy goods vehicles in all accidents is low, they are over presented in those accidents with the most serious injury outcomes. The first SUNflower report showed that collisions involving heavy goods vehicles resulted in 22% of total fatalities in Sweden, 21% in the Netherlands, and 14% in Britain. Collisions with vulnerable road users make up 5-11% of these proportions of fatalities. The nature and circumstances of these collisions will be investigated in more detail, and the policies and regulations regarding goods vehicle travel in the three countries compared. Data will be sought on the involvement of foreign vehicles in the accident toll in each country.
