The first SUNflower report showed that risks are highest in Britain for pedestrians the extended study will seek more information to explain this higher risk. It was suggested that this might be partly explained by the higher traffic density, particularly in urban areas. Data will be sought at both local and national level in each country. The role of other factors such as pedestrian activity by age and socio-economic group will also be considered, with particular reference to the high risk among child pedestrians in Britain.
